Your all-inclusive Designs Plus price is primarily determined by three things:
The product you select.
The total number of colors needed for printing.
The total quantity of items in your order.
Other factors such as personalization (adding personalized names and/or numbers to your items) or special requests also affect the cost.
Savings tip: The easiest way to reduce the cost per item is to increase the quantity of your order. Consider ordering a few extras to maximize your savings. Can I order the same design on multiple shirt styles?
Yes! If you have one design but want to order it on multiple styles, Designs Plus will always give you the best volume price for your entire order. Here’s a review of your options for ordering on multiple apparel styles.
Add additional styles in the Designs Plus. Under Check the "Style Selection" click the " Style" under any of the items to add that style to your order!
Note: Different styles have different design areas, and we may need to adjust your design to fit all styles in an order. Don't worry, we'll run any changes past you first, and you'll see exactly how your order will print in your picture proof email.
Choosing the best colors for your design
Choosing your vinyl and shirt color is one of the fun parts of designing, however it can also be a bit tricky. Sometimes, certain t-shirt/vinyl color combinations look more vibrant on a computer screen than they do in real life.
Our art team is very aware of this issue, and every order that comes through Design Plus is checked for color contrast. If we spot a potential contrast issue that we think you might ultimately not be happy with, we will contact you to discuss it, as well as suggest an alternative color.
Here are some quick guidelines to choose color combinations that pop!
When using lighter shirts, be careful of pastel colors such as yellow, baby blue, or light pink. These colors are visible on the shirts, but may not be legible at a distance. Adding an outline of a darker color to a lighter color design can highlight the text, making it more legible! Darker colored shirts look great with these lighter vinyl colors, however be careful about darker colors like cardinal, maroon, or forest. These colors may look great, but when they are printed sometimes the shirt color distorts the vinyl color, making them look more brown or dull than intended. When we see these colors on an order, we'll call and offer a color that will print like the color you choose.
Designs On Different Sizes
When ordering from Designs Plus, it is important to remember that your design is shown on a standard shirt size:
Unisex/Men’s Shirts - Adult Large Ladies/Juniors Shirts - Adult Medium Youth Shirts - Youth Large
The design dimensions that are shown on this product will be adjusted for every item in your order. That means that your design may appear smaller on a youth product, or larger on a plus-size product, even though the design is exactly the same on every item.
The same applies for any of our products.
If you would like the size of your design to fit proportionally on a wider variety of shirt sizes, give us a call at 705:279:2365. One of our representatives can discuss the options with you to make sure that everything turns out great!
What happens after I place my order?
Each order is reviewed by at least two members of the Designs Plus production team to make sure your design is perfect and ready for print.
All art is thoroughly checked for aesthetics, cut-ability, and errors. We will automatically adjust common issues like alignment, contrast, line thickness, and spelling errors. Learn more about our review process.
All orders will get an email with a picture proof and details of any corrections before we process your order. Along with an invoice and Designs Plus payment method.
Your products are then decorated using punched out colored printing films with a plotter machine. After your items are decorated, they will be available to pick up or delivered locally to your door by your guaranteed delivery date.

Optimizing vector graphics for print
We print vector motifs using plotter printing. Your design will first be punched out of colored printing films with a plotter machine. Then a member of the Designs Plus staff "weeds" the design, that is, removes the unnecessary pieces of film. The weeded design is then positioned on the t-shirt and pressed on with heat and pressure. The carrier film is peeled off and the t-shirt is finished. Requirements for your vector design
We support ai, eps and black and white hi res JPEG file formats. Your design must not exceed 15 x 15 inches. We recommend 11 x 11 inches as the ideal size. Lines and other parts of the design must have a diameter of at least 0.06 inches. Maximum 3 colors: we can print up to three colors when plotter printing. Please create each color in your design as a separate layer. All objects and text to be printed must be converted into paths. Make sure that all curves are completely closed and do not overlap each other.
Measuring and increasing line thickness
If parts of the design are thinner than the required line width, they can tear during weeding making the print motif unusable. If gaps in the motif or whole parts of the motif are too small (e.g. dots), they may possibly be overlooked during weeding or be difficult to detach. In addition, fine lines do not adhere as well to the shirt and may peel off. Lines and other parts of the motif must therefore have a diameter of at least 0.06 inches and gaps between elements should be at least 0.04 inches.
This is how you measure line width: to check whether the lines in your motif are thick enough, create a circle with a diameter of 0.06 inches and lay it on top of the thinnest line in your motif. If the circle fits inside the line without protruding, it is thick enough. Do the same with a 0.04 inch diameter circle to measure the gaps in your design. If the circle fits inside the narrowest gap, it is big enough.
Important: if you increase the line width, make sure that your overall design is no larger than 15 x 15 inches. It is best to aim for a size of 11 x 11 inches, so that it fits on most of our products.
Checking and closing curves
When the plotter machine punches out your design, it cuts it out of the printing film along the curves. If the plotter machine finds an open end in a curve, it tries to close it. It looks for any anchor point nearby and cuts a straight line down to this point. If the curve is not closed, there will be defects in the design.
So ensure that you do the following:
Check that you have really converted all the parts of your design into curves. Unconverted elements will not be printed, as our printer will not recognize them. Check that you have really closed all the curves in your design. You can use the "combine" or "merge" function in your graphics program to do this. If there are any remaining elements which overlap or are not required, remove them.
Reduce the number of anchor points
Whenever the plotter machine reaches an anchor point when cutting out along the curves on your design, it changes its direction. Superfluous anchor points on a line result in them no longer being even and the design on the shirt looks messy. Also, a large number of changes in direction cost a lot of time and cutting out takes a long time.
So when you are creating your vector graphic, use as few anchor points as possible. One start point and one end point are sufficient for a straight line. Your design should have a maximum of 2000 anchor points per colour (maximum 6000 for a three-colored motif).
Raster art vs. Vector art
Raster artwork is any digital art composed of horizontal and vertical rows of pixels. As a result, when raster images are enlarged, the image quality diminishes significantly. Typical raster file types include .psd, .tif, .jpg, .gif, and .bmp.
Vector artwork is digital art composed of mathematical lines and curves. As a result, vector images can be reduced or enlarged in size indefinitely, without any loss in image quality. Typical vector file types include .ai, .eps, .ps, .indd, .pdf, and .cdr.
Raster vs. Vector
If you upload a raster image, and you would like it to appear exactly as-is on your shirts the minimum DPI (dots per inch) requirement is 300DPI at actual print size. When you submit a raster black and white clipart-like image, one of our expert production artists will recreate your image as vector art, free of charge! So you can be confident that no matter what, we'll do everything possible to get your image on your shirts exactly the way you want it. You will then be emailed a proof of your new vector file in the color (s) you have chosen for a final review and proof.

Using our Graphics Service
We can do it for you
This might sound familiar: Sometimes you have a great idea in your head for a design that is ready to print. Our graphics service helps you create a printable template of your idea. We turn your vector graphics into a printable temeplate, offer support for optimizing existing graphics, and can even turn a hand-drawn sketch into a printable design.
This is how easy it is
You can upload your file through Designs Plus Graphics Service. Clicking on the button "upload graphics” will lead you to a form in which you can submit your template to us.
You can choose from a variety of file formats, e.g. jpg, png, gif, bmp, eps, ai, svg, psd, pdf. Also, you can state a size you want the design to have. If you don’t specify this option, we will try to render the graphics as small as possible, but scalable. Please let us know if you should have any special requests, feedback or comments.
In a matter of 2-5 business days, we will initially make the design available to you by emial. You will receive both a confirmation and the invoice via email.
And all this for just $19.99 per design. Payment method available with Designs Plus including visa, mastercard, e transfers and debit.
We will try our best to comply with your graphics requests. There are a few limitations, though, namely for
legal reasons (trademarks, copyrights, personality rights, constitutional law) the template’s resolution is too small, or the design in the desired size is too detailed to cut and imprint.
These cases mean that we need to cancel your order. Then you will receive an email confirmation. You will receive your money back by the same payment method that you used (with direct debit it might not be debited at all). The same is true if we can’t meet your requirements having tried twice to post-process it.
The example in the photo shows how it was transferred into a single-coloured vector graphic. Important: With plot print you can use a maximum of 3 colours. Please be sure to state which elements are particularly important to you with the final graphics in mind. Most landscape images are rather hard to vectorise and are likely to be rejected.
